Maria Montessori founded the Association Montessori Internationale at the first International Montessori Congress in 1929. Since then, 25 Congresses have been held around the world, meeting every four years or so. The event was held in Sydney, Australia, in 2005, in Chennai, India in 2009, and in Portland, Oregon, in the United States in 2013. The 2017 Congress will take place in Prague, in the Czech Republic.
The 2017 Congress in Prague
The 2017 International Montessori Congress is a four day event taking place from July 27 through July 30, 2017 in Prague, in the Czech Republic. The theme of the Congress is “Pathways to Peace: Montessori Education for Social Change”. The program is still under development, but previous conferences have featured nationally and internationally recognized speakers from outside the Montessori world as well as AMI trainers and internationally recognized Montessorians.
Registration for the event is 450 €, and the site has information on travel and accommodations.
Although the Congress is sponsored by AMI, it is explicitly considered a Congress for all Montesorians everywhere, and is supported and cosponsored by a wide range of organizations.
